Testimonials
Danny Bailey
“My name is Danny Bailey and I’m the Deputy Manager at Harts Boat Yard in Surbiton. I started my career with another restaurant company – I progressed pretty quickly and was soon an assistant manager. I gained a lot of experience but felt I lacked knowledge and training. I’d often visited Harts Boat Yard as it’s in my neck of the woods, and I loved the idea of working there so I applied for a job via the website.
What I love most about Harts is the uniqueness and originality. The company challenges you to strive for the best all the time. I’m currently developing through the training workshops and enjoying every minute of it.
I love my job – we’re like a big family that helps and supports each other, and we all pull together to make the guests a part of it.”
Dave Skinner
“At college I trained as a chef and studied hotel management. Then I spent two years in France, managing a hotel in a ski resort, before the Saxon Mill in Warwick. I learnt so much from my manager and the support team around me. I was then offered a great opportunity to manage my own pub, The Langton.
It was an amazing experience! I grew the pub over the time I was there and always felt there was more to achieve, more to strive for. I react well to challenges and The Langton was definitely that.
After the Langton, I was given an outstanding opportunity to open a new pub, The Ramblers Rest, in the suburbs of London. It opened just before Christmas – what a fantastic time to open a pub! I put my heart and soul into it and had a great time.”
After an amazing 13 months at the Ramblers Rest, Dave returned to manage The Saxon Mill, now one of our flagship pubs.
“We’ve since won a few awards - it’s great to celebrate our successes as a team and take pleasure in a job well done. I really like the fact that we have an annual awards dinner too.
I’m often asked why I work in pubs with all the anti-social hours. I do it because I love interacting with people and the daily challenges of running your own business. For me, managing the Saxon Mill is the best job in the world. The pub is stunning and the people are the best bar none.”
